Product Summary
GOSAT-GW/AMSR3 L3 Sea Ice Motion Vector (PS, 10 km, 1-Day) dataset is obtained from the AMSR3 sensor onboard GOSAT-GW and produced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
GOSAT-GW was launched by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 50 (H-IIA 50) at 01:33 a.m. on Jun 29th, 2025 (Japan Standard Time, JST). GOSAT-GW equipped with AMSR3 takes measurements at multiple microwave frequencies and multiple polarizations of weak electromagnetic waves in the microwave band radiated from the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere. AMSR3 has swath of 1535 km and 11 microwave bands. The observation data will enable the creation of long-term trustworthy data sets of global physical amount.
Level 3 products are gridded data. They store the brightness tempreture or physical parameters data converted using grid processing and temporally statical processing.
This product includes averaged Sea Ice Motion Vector (SIM). SIM product can monitor daily sea ice circulations in polar oceans. This product is an essential physical parameter to quantify air-ocean momentum exchanges in polar oceans and is detected by calculating spatial lag correlations between pixel arrays on successive Brightness Temperature imageries.
The provided format is NetCDF4. The current version of the product is Version 01A. The physical quantity unit is [cm/s]. The generation unit is global. The sampling resolution is 10 km. The projection method is PS. However, although the resolution of the dataset is 10 km, the data are stored only at overlapping grid points corresponding to the GOSAT-GW/AMSR3 L3 Sea Ice Motion Vector (PS, 50 km, 1-Day).

ISO Topic Categories is the keywords in the ISO 19115 - Geographic Information Metadata.
Science Keywords hosts Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Keywords which are a hierarchical set of controlled Earth Science vocabularies that help ensure Earth science data, services, and variables are described in a consistent and comprehensive manner and allow for the precise searching of metadata and subsequent retrieval of data, services, and variables.
ECV Keywords hosts a physical, chemical or biological variable or a group of linked variables that critically contributes to the characterization of Earth's climate.
