Product Summary

GOSAT-GW/AMSR3 L3 Brightness Temperature (EG, 12.5 km, 1-Month) dataset is obtained from the AMSR3 sensor onboard GOSAT-GW and produced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
GOSAT-GW was launched by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 50 (H-IIA 50) at 01:33 a.m. on Jun 29th, 2025 (Japan Standard Time, JST). GOSAT-GW equipped with AMSR3 takes measurements at multiple microwave frequencies and multiple polarizations of weak electromagnetic waves in the microwave band radiated from the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere. AMSR3 has swath of 1535 km and 11 microwave bands. The observation data will enable the creation of long-term trustworthy data sets of global physical amount.
Level 3 products are gridded data. They store the brightness tempreture or physical parameters data converted using grid processing and temporally statical processing.
This product includes monthly mean Brightness Temperature. Brightness Temperature is calculated from sensor counts and is proportional to the power of observed electromagnetic wave. They are expressed by the physical temperature of blackbody, which can emit the electromagnetic wave with the same power. Horizontal polarized wave and vertical polarized wave are stored separately.
The provided format is NetCDF4. The current version of the product is Version 01A. The physical quantity unit is Kelvin. The generation unit is global. The sampling resolution is 12.5 km. The projection method is EG.
